Journal #5

Journal Linear Inequalities  Due Friday 12/13

Jim owns a moving company. On a particular job Jim was moving some beds and sofas, and was interested in determining how many beds and/or sofas he could load into a semi-trucks trailer. Jim knows that the trailer can hold at most 80 beds and 44 sofas. Jim also knows that the total volume of the trailer is 4000 cubic feet and that each bed takes up 50 cubic feet and each sofa takes up 90 cubic feet. Write an inequality to represent the following:

a.) How many beds the trailer can hold? Explain what this inequality represents.
b.) How many sofas the trailer can hold? Explain what this inequality represents.
c.) How many sofas and beds can fit in the total cubic feet of the trailer? Explain what this inequality represents.

Solve the system of linear inequalities by graphing. Be sure to indicate where the solution is.
